We seem to be establishing some kind of schedule these days. Even though Eva occasionally treats us to a two-days stint of feeding every 2 hours, she
generally sleeps through the night. On good days she attempts a morning nap. Carlo
can not resist interfering with her sleep by saying "Eva, open your eyes. Eva!" This brotherly love
is sweet, but it means Eva normally has a morning nap in 20 minutes segments. Lucky for her
- and me - Carlo still has an afternoon nap, so at least one nap session is uninterrupted.
Happily, we are getting back to Carlo's activity schedule (although it is with some trepidation
as it is still flu seaon and we definitely do not want that). Carlo loves being outside and running around
after his friends. Sometimes we invite Carlo's friends over to play. It is fascinating to me how he interacts with each one
quite differently. Carlo is also going to Spanish class. At first Carlo was timid and did not want to answer
questions or do the activities. Then in the second session he started calling out the answers almost every time.
I do not think that he learns anything that his father has not already taught him,
but he enjoys singing the songs and it is another forum for him to speak Spanish.
On the theme of classes Enrico and I are going to attend a parenting class for preschoolers.
Santa Cruz has a great family community center that offers these classes which
feature the authors of the great parenting book "Becoming the Parent You Want to Be."
With the hectic nature of our lives (Enrico is teaching this quarter and sleeps about 5 hours
a night) we realized that our parenting skills needed some help - especially as
Carlo makes the transition from the Terrific Twos to the Transcendent (or was that Trying?) Threes.

Tummy time

In motion

A little smile

Dressed for the cold weather

Father and daughter relax

Eva loves to sit up and keeps trying to do it by herself

Carlo makes another appearance.
See you next month...
