Month twenty-three

Bye, bye Princeton. Hello Santa Cruz.

Out of ice storms and into the sun (with occasional showers), our arrival
in Santa Cruz was perfect in terms of the weather. However, we have
had ridiculously bad luck with things such as computers, car trouble, house
trouble, etc. Perhaps this is the price we pay for living in "paradise."

Carlo also had a few rough weeks on our arrival. But now he is happy with a
full week of activities from gym class to storyhour to various playgroups as
well as trips to the aquarium and beach.

Santa Cruz offers a multitude of playgrounds, including a nice one across the street from
our place. This neighborhood park also has tennis courts and Carlo loves to play on the courts.
Not many balls make contact with his raquet, but he does not complain about running after them.

On a walk to view sea lions, Carlo decided that being carried
was far better than walking.

The beach at Aņo Nuevo is the site of the largest mainland breeding
colony in the world for the northern elephant seal.

Carlo was more interested in the camera than the sea lions. He
wanted me to take photos of him and then show them to him.

On President's Day we decided to have a picnic on the beach.
Unfortunately, we picked the windiest beach so while the waves
were amazing we had to pick the sand off our prosciutto.
(Victoria, a friend from the IAS is now happily in Santa Cruz
and she joined us).

See you next month.
