| Our friends Nathalie and Thomas invited us to their wedding outside of Brussels. After the wedding we went to Brussels to wander about for a few days. While Brussels might not be on everyone's list of must-see European capitals, we had a fantastic time. One night we were caught in the rain, wandered into a performance centre, sat on stage during a piano recital, walked-through (and for a moment) became part of a performance art piece, and unknowingly followed a maze to a small art-deco cafe. | ||||
| Our first night in Brussels we sleeped on the floor of Karien, a friend of Nathalie. This is the view from her flat. | ![]() |

| In front of Manneken Pis- yes, this is a statue of a little boy peeing into the fountain below. There are many legends around its origin. One of them is that the son of a duke was caught urinating against a tree during battle in the 12th century. This event was captured in bronze to commerate the country's military courage. | ![]() |
