Ely- The Cathedral
St. Etheldreda, a Saxon princess who chose religion over her husband, founded a monestry on this site in 683. In 1080 the building of the Ely Cathedral (as you see it here began).

This enormous cathedral towers over the village of Ely. Walking up through the Dean's Meadow gives an idea of its size before one arrives. This photo is from when we took my father and his girlfriend to see the cathedral (note: the lamb in the pasture - pre-Foot-and-Mouth)

This is the first photo Enrico took on our new digital camera (a present from my father).
