The Alhambra and Palacio Nazaries sit uneasily with
the Palacio |

| A side look at the Alhambra. For those who do not know the name Alhambra comes from the Arabic words for red castle. Constructed as a fortress in the 9th century, it served its purpose through the 18th century when Napoleonic troops used it as a barracks. It was also used as a prison with prisoners being lowered by ropes below into the dark hole awaiting them. | ||||
| Even with its history of less than glorious uses, it bears an attractive force. Sometimes on break between classes I walk up the hill from my centre to take in my favorite view. Standing at the edge of the hill is the Torre de la Vela (the watchtower). | ||||

Credit for this photo is due to Orlando as I forgot my camera on this day. He took some wonderful photos and even dealt patiently with my requests for different shots. You will see that there is a remarkable difference between the beginning of March and the end of April in terms of foliage (and of temperature). |

| One of the reflecting pool in the palace grounds that Orlando took and that I played with (the photo, not the pool). | ||||
