Morelia and more...

The first time we visited Morelia it was a rainy grey afternoon. It left little impression on me.
But the second visit changed that. A beautiful sunset across the plaza was enough to convince
that Morelia is worth knowing better.

During the day while Enrico was at his conference his parents, Carlo, and I went around Morelia taking in the sights.

Lena took this photo of me in front of an impressive mural by Alfredo Zalce that tells the tale of Mexican independence on the walls of the Palacio Gobierno.

Morelia is the birthplace of Morelos, one of the leaders of the Mexican independence movement, who is pictured here wearing a bandana on his head (next to him is Hidalgo).

The mural also depicts scenes of traditional Mexican life.

Morelia from the outskirts (I imagine in the 1950's or earlier as the city's population is now several million).
